Glasgow Property

In 2001-2002, house prices rose in Scotland 8.5%, still significantly below the national rise of 18.8%. As there are no significant differences in wages between Glasgow and other major UK cities, there is still great promise in the Glasgow market.*

The average price for residential property in Glasgow is £82,500,*compared with the England average of £123,500** and Scottish average of £69,591.*

Aberdare Thistle currently only recommends purchase of good quality apartments at the higher end of the market. The reasons for this are three-fold:

  • Good quality flats are more likely to be occupied for a continuous periods of time, therefore preventing void rental months.
  • There are less maintenance costs associated with high-end properties.
  • Good properties tend to increase in value more rapidly over a sustained period.
While high-end properties yield less than some cheaper units, the significant difference historically has been seen in long-term capital appreciation of the property.
